Barone ordained as priest from Bishop of Charlotte

Barone said he feels today’s values and culture have affected the morals and ethics of the family and traditional faith of the church’s teaching. Youth today have a challenging time, he said, and they need to remain firm to the words and teachings of Christ and the gospel message.
“Today’s world is full of noise, distraction and loudness, and it is so busy,” Barone said. “The philosopher Soren Kierkegaard said that the world would be saved through silence. Silence makes one introspected where difficult questions may be asked and answered. I think silence can bring people closer to Christ and His truths through beauty in architecture, music and the liturgy. Once silence is achieved, then preaching, if it is clear, reasoned, compassionate and inspiring, can be well received. I think this has been the success of Fr. Winslow’s pastorship here in Tryon.”
The bishop will assign Barone to a parish as an assistant in order to give him the best experience possible for the next three or four years. The bishop may or may not ask Barone to continue studies for any special pastoral ministry. The priority is clearly to fill the parishes of the diocese and attend to the needs of the parish.
