Dog-friendly but not

As a new Polk County resident, I love what an animal-friendly place this is, so you can imagine my shock when I was asked to leave the farmers’ market in Columbus on Saturday morning because I had brought my dog (who is well-mannered, leashed and usually carried in my arms).
There were no signs posted restricting dogs, and frankly, I’ve never been to an outdoor market as a guest or a vendor, be it farmers’ or flea, that didn’t allow dogs.
The market manager was polite when explaining that in the past there had been complaints, and that people had gotten tangled up in leashes (seriously?), but I was extremely disappointed and surprised at such a policy.
