Laughridge – Clark wedding

Allison Marie Clark and Matthew Davis Laughridge were married at 4:30 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 30, 2010. The ceremony was held at The French Huguenot Church in Charleston, S.C. The Reverend John Hamilton Smith, Jr. and the Reverend Philip Charles Bryant officiated the double-ring ceremony.
Escorted by her father and given in marriage by her parents, the bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Edwin Lafayette Clark, Jr. of Greenville, NC. She is the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Walter L. Williams and Mrs. Janie Hunt Clark, and the late Edwin L. Clark, Sr., all of Greenville.
The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. W. Jay Laughridge III of Campobello, S.C. He is the grandson of Mrs. Joyce Marie Laughridge and the late W. Jay Laughridge, Jr. of Holly Springs, N.C. and Dr. George Edgar Eddins, Jr. and the late Mrs. Eddins of Albemarle, N.C.
Emily Ann Clark of Greenville, sister of the bride, served as maid of honor. Also attending the bride were Laura Beth Nichols Tyndall of Greenville as matron of honor and Carolyn Lamond Daysh of Dallas as maid of honor. Bridesmaids were Meredith Laughridge Cross, sister of the groom, of Apex, N.C., Janie Pendleton Taft, cousin of the bride, of Greenville, N.C, Kristen Suzanne Brown of Raleigh, N.C., Hannah Gray Skinner of Raleigh, N.C., Jenna Rackley Little of Greenville and Sarah Catherine Foushee of Salisbury, N.C. Lauren Elizabeth Cox of Greenville was an honorary bridesmaid.
Jim Bob Wilson, II of Flat Rock, N.C., served as best man. Groomsmen were Tyler Edwin Clark, Joshua Walter Clark, William Lafayette Clark, brothers of the bride, all of Greenville, N.C. Lee Alexander Dorsam of Mt. Pleasant, S.C., Wesley Robert Day of Raleigh, N.C., Peter Brenton Pryor, Jr. of Lexington, Ky., Bennett Alexander Lewis of Ponte Vedra, Fla., and Alexander Coleman Team of Winston Salem, N.C., friends of the grooms, also were groomsmen. Honorary groomsman was Christopher Michael Laughridge, brother of the groom, of Campobello, S.C.
A program of wedding music was directed by Mrs. Ellen Moyl and accompanied by a Charleston Symphony string ensemble. Miss Courtney Blair Minges, friend of the bride, of Nashville, Tenn., was one of the vocalists. Webb and Laura Beth Tyndall, close friends of the bride, read selections of scripture during the ceremony.
Following the ceremony, the bride’s parents hosted a dinner dance reception at Lowndes Grove Plantation on the Ashley River. The parents of the groom hosted a rehearsal dinner on the eve of the wedding at McCrady’s in downtown Charleston. Following the rehearsal dinner, Tom and Liz Taft of Greenville, N.C., entertained the wedding party and guests at their Charleston home for cocktails and desserts. During the wedding weekend, friends of the bride’s family hosted a bridesmaid luncheon at The Thomas Bennett House.
Prior to their wedding, the couple was given parties to celebrate their upcoming marriage. A cocktail and dinner party was given in honor of the bride and groom in Flat Rock N.C. by friends of the groom’s family. An outdoor dinner party, hosted by friends and family of the bride, was held in Greenville, N.C., at the home of the bride’s parents. In addition, a bridal shower was given at the home of Mrs. Bryant Kittrell of Greenville, N.C., and hosted by friends of the bride and her family.
The bride is a graduate of J.H. Rose High School in Greenville and received her Bachelor of Arts degree in religion from Wake Forest University. The groom is a graduate of Woodberry Forest School and Wake Forest University where he was a member of Kappa Alpha Fraternity. He received Bachelor of Arts degrees in economics and communications.
Following a honeymoon trip to Paris, France, the couple has made their home in Charleston, S.C.
