Simon Thompson to lead winter bird walk at FENCE

Birders at FENCE

Birders at FENCE

On Thursday, March 3 at 9 a.m. join us at FENCE for our first seasonal bird walk of the year. This wonderful program is open and free to the public. We welcome everyone from first time birders to advanced birders to join Simon for his walk.

Simon Thompson, local ornithologist, will lead this leisurely two-hour walk on the FENCE property. The first Northern Rough-winged and Tree Swallows may be in, as well as maybe an early Blue-gray Gnatcatcher. Some of our winter sparrows should be still passing through and we could see White-crowned, White-throated and Savannah Sparrows as they migrate north through the Foothills.

This event is made possible by the Kirby Endowment at the Polk County Community Foundation.

The Foothills Equestrian Nature Center is located at 3381 Hunting Country Road in Tryon, N.C. For more information about this event or upcoming events visit fence.org, or call us at 828-859-9021.
