Students learn about Constitution

The Columbus chapter of the Lion’s Club recently provided each fourth grade student at Tryon Elementary School with a booklet containing the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution of the United States of America.

Mr. Garland Goodwin, representative of the Lion’s Club, and Mayor Alan Peoples, spoke to the students about their rights and freedoms that are written out in these historical documents and how they are upheld through local and national government agencies.

Tryon Elementary was honored to have these two wise gentlemen speak to their fourth grade students and is grateful for the copies of the Declaration of Independence and Constitution.
