Notification of discharge of untreated wastewater

General statute 143-215.1C requires that the owner or operator of any wastewater collection or treatment works to issue a press release when an untreated wastewater discharge of 1,000 gallons or more reaches surface waters.

The Lynnbrook subdivision had a discharge of untreated wastewater on Dec. 28, 2015 of an estimated 9,000 gallons at the treatment plant located at NCSR 1135, Columbus, N.C. The untreated wastewater was discharged into Skyuka Creek in the Broad River Basin.

The Division of Water Resources was notified of the event on Dec. 30, 2015 and is reviewing the matter. For more information contact James and James Environmental Mgt. Inc. at 828-697-0063.
