Minnie Lee ‘Granny’ Sain Conner

Minnie Lee “Granny” Sain Conner, 95, of Saluda went home to be with the Lord Thursday, Feb. 10, 2011 in Hospice House of the Carolina Foothills, Landrum.

Born in Polk County, she was the daughter of the late Zack and Lettie Thompson Sain. She was first married to George Luther Conner, who died in 1974, and later married to Clyde Freeman Conner, who died in 1999. She was a member of Silver Creek Baptist Church, Mill Spring. In addition to her parents and husbands, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Annie Mae Conner, in 1944 and a granddaughter, Amanda Bradley.

Surviving are three daughters, Lettie Gass of Saluda, Rosa Camp of Green Creek and Ellen Conner of Saluda; three sons, George Luther Conner Jr. and Hoyt Conner, both of Saluda, and Lloyd Conner of Hendersonville, N.C.; two brothers, George Sain of Mill Spring and Zack Sain of Spartanburg, S.C.; two sisters, Edna Lewis of Campobello and Cordelia Searcy of Sunnyview. Also surviving are 14 grandchildren, 32 great-grandchildren and 16 great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral service will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 13, 2011 in the Silver Creek Baptist Church, Mill Spring, with Dr. Chris Osborn and Rev. Gary Curtis officiating.

Burial will be in the church cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Saturday evening in the McFarland Funeral Chapel.

At other times, the family will be at the home.
