Henderson Co. magistrate charged with DWI in Polk

A Henderson County magistrate was charged last weekend with driving while impaired in Polk County, according to the Polk County Sheriffs Office,
Stewart Van Meter, 59, of Hendersonville, was arrested and charged with driving while impaired and cited for failure to maintain lane control, according to Polk County Sheriff Donald Hill.
Hill says Van Meter was traveling along Landrum Highway around 1:30 a.m. Sunday.
He was released from the Polk County Jail on written promise to appear in court.
His court date was set for Nov. 24.
