TLTs Grace &Glorie a story of laughter, tears, life

Grace & Glorie, the Tryon Little Theaters final production of the season, is now well into rehearsals, to play TLTs Workshop April 29 through May 2, and May 6 through 9.
Director Elvin Clark, actors Connie Clark (Grace) and Marianne Carruth (Glorie), and Stage Manager Jody McPherson say they end each rehearsal saying aloud to one another how much they love this remarkable play (not a common theatrical occurrence), marveling at how much they care about the characters Grace and Glorie, and how deeply moved they have been amid all the laughter by their journey.
Grace & Glorie brings forth much laughter from the audience during the entire play, while there are also moving moments as these two women, seemingly as different as they could possibly be (a 90-year-old uneducated mountain woman and a forty-something Harvard MBA from New York), find the common ground of humanity.
Actor Connie Clark has been appearing for TLT since her 1979 debut as Amanda Prynne (still one of her favorite roles) in Noel Cowards Private Lives. Over the years she has appeared in leading roles many times for TLT.&bsp; Regionally she has been seen at the Spartanburg Little Theatre, and at Greenvilles Warehouse Theatre, Upstate Shakespeare Festival, and Centre Stage. She has also taken her solo plays as Emily Dickinson and Sarah Bernhardt to England, Scotland, Norway, and 19 states in the U.S.
Actor Marianne Carruth scored a triumph last season in TLTs One Flew Over the Cuckoos Nest as the vicious Nurse Ratched. Trained in London and at university in Texas, Carruth has an extensive background in directing and acting including directing the TLT/Tryon Youth Centers 8 to 12 year old&bsp; actors productions for the past four years.
For director Elvin Clark, Grace & Glorie marks his seventh directorial assignment for TLT, following The Pleasure of His Company, The Odd Couple (Female Version), Into the Woods, The Glass Menagerie, Lost in Yonkers, and Jacob Marleys Christmas Carol.
TLTs box office at the Workshop, located at 516 South Trade Street, will open April 15. The number is 828-859-2466.
