Charles Milam

Mr. Charles Raymond Milam, 64, of 1249 Floyd Blackwell Road, Tryon, passed away February 15, 2010. A native of Morganfield, Ky., he was the husband of Betty Mertz Milam and the son of the late Vogal and Mary Courtney Milam. He was a grocery store manager, a member of Southside Baptist Church, It Takes Three Gospel Group and volunteered at the Hospice Thrift Barn of the Hospice of the Carolina Foothills to assemble an antique doll house. Mr. Milam was also a veteran of the United States Air Force.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons, Steven Austin of California and Tommy Craft of Florida; three daughters, Theresa Fitzgerald of Florida, Cindy Austin of Green Creek, and Christine Austin of Florida; one brother, Gene May of Florida; three sisters, Betty Tolliver of Texas, Sheila Evans of Indiana, and Patty Scranton of Florida; seven grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one great-grandchild.
Memorial services will be held Saturday, February 20, 2010 at 1 p.m. at Southside Baptist Church, with the Rev. John Fortner and Rev. Ralph Byars officiating.
