SALUDA— In a significant step forward for the community, Historic Saluda, Inc. has officially unveiled its new logo and announced exciting developments in its mission to preserve and celebrate the rich history of Saluda. The launch of the logo occurred during this year’s Coon Dog Day Festival, marking a new chapter for the organization as it transitions from an advisory committee to a formal nonprofit.

The newly designed logo, crafted by local designer Sarah W. Maupin of Carolina Blue Design Group, LLC, captures the essence of the organization’s focus on preserving the historic former Saluda Presbyterian Church, built in 1896 and listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The logo features intricate details of the church’s architectural elements, including its welcoming doors and distinctive light fixture. The design honors the historic charm of Saluda while incorporating the vibrant “Saluda Green,” a color commonly found in the region’s historic properties.

As the organization navigates the process of obtaining its 501(c)(3) status, which is currently pending with the IRS, Historic Saluda, Inc. has defined three primary areas of focus. The first, Historical Association, is committed to preserving and documenting Saluda’s history, aiming to educate both residents and visitors through the collection and sharing of archives, artifacts, and oral histories.

The second focus, Historic Preservation, advocates for the importance of preserving Saluda’s historic properties and collaborates with local, state, and national groups. A highlight of their efforts includes the biennial Historic Saluda Tour of Homes, fostering appreciation for the area’s architectural heritage.

The third area, Museum, involves transforming the former church sanctuary into a museum that will chronicle Saluda’s journey from the time of Indigenous peoples through modern-day. The museum is set to open in 2026, with extensive planning and fundraising efforts currently in progress.

With a board of directors now in place and Articles of Incorporation formalizing the new name, Historic Saluda, Inc. is eager to involve the community in its initiatives.

“We need help,” says Board member Cindy Tuttle. “We are launching a Capital Campaign with a goal of $100,000 to renovate the church sanctuary, upgrade utilities, and ensure the building meets modern standards.”

In addition to financial assistance, the organization is seeking volunteers to assist in various capacities, particularly as docents when the museum opens. Community members interested in supporting Historic Saluda’s mission can reach out via email or through their social media channels for more information on how to get involved.

“Historic Saluda, Inc. aims to be a beacon of historic preservation in our community,” said Tuttle. “We want to set an example of how to respect and honor our past while creating a vibrant future.”
