TRYON—Morgan Madden of Campobello has been awarded the Tryon Little Theater Sue Hipps Memorial Scholarship for the upcoming 2025-26 academic year.

Morgan first appeared in the Tryon Summer Youth Production of “Cinderella” in 2023 and was hooked by the stage. She also worked in the 2024 Youth Production of “Bye Bye Birdie” (ensemble and makeup design) and has recently served as stage manager/makeup designer in this summer’s production of Disney’s “Frozen, Jr.”

Last year at North Greenville University, she performed in the premiere of “Unreal City” and in “Richard III.” She also designed the hair and makeup for “Richard III” and served as the master electrician for “You Can’t Take it With You,” earning KCACTF nominations for both.

Madden did the hair and makeup design for “Break” (a live filmed TV sitcom at NGU), won an NGU award for ’24-’25 for best hair and makeup artist, and performed in (and was a stagehand for) a production of “The Miss Magnolia Senior Citizen Beauty Pageant” (Broads #3) at Foothills Playhouse.

She plans to continue her studies in theater at North Greenville University.

The Tryon Little Theater Sue Hipps Memorial Scholarship is in memory of Sue Hipps, a talented comedienne of the TLT stage who left us too soon. It is available to high school seniors and college students.
