Polk County’s Homecoming football game with Owen will have an even larger crowd watching than usual.

The September 19 matchup, which will also be the Wolverines’ Western Highlands Conference opener, is scheduled to be broadcast live on regional television as part of WMYA-TV’s Friday Night Rivals series. Kickoff will be at 7:30 p.m.

The telecast will mark an anniversary of sorts – the first live broadcast of a Polk County game occurred 10 years ago, an early October tilt in which Mitchell claimed a 28-27 victory.

Polk County opens its 2025 season at home on August 22 at Chase. The Wolverines will host Newton-Conover on August 29, then will travel to Blue Ridge, S.C. (Sept. 5) and Patton (Sept. 12) before returning home for the conference opener, Homecoming and television audience.
