PCSO, Columbus Baptist Church partner to provide free school supplies to local families

MILL SPRING—The Polk County Sheriff’s Office is teaming up with Columbus Baptist Church to present a fun-filled “Back 2 School Bash” on Saturday, August 2, at Polk Middle School. The free event will run from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m..

This celebration is designed to help students and families prepare for the upcoming school year. Organizers will be giving away free backpacks, school supplies, and hot dog lunches, along with access to resources. Last year, approximately 450 free backpacks were distributed at the event.

In addition to the giveaways, Salon 3:15 will be on-site, offering free haircuts to students, helping them head back to school feeling confident and ready. The event is supported by The Hope Chest and a variety of local sponsors, donors, and volunteers who have contributed to make the day special.

This is the sixth year the event has provided free essential school supplies for local families.

“The event has grown over the years thanks to a lot of support from the community,” said PCSO Chaplain Chris Osborn. “We wouldn’t be able to do this without their donations. It’s all for the children, and every little bit helps.”
