TRYON—Rotary District 7670 Foundation Chair Ken Shull recently presented Rotary Club of Tryon President-Elect Martin Gilchrist with his Paul Harris Fellow +2 recognition and pin. The Club wanted to make sure Martin had his new pin before he traveled to Calgary for the Rotary International Convention.
The Paul Harris Fellow honor was established in 1957 to recognize Rotary members and friends of The Rotary Foundation who elect to make significant financial contributions to any combination of Foundation programs: Annual Fund, PolioPlus Fund, Disaster Response Fund, or Approved Global Grants.
Rotarians are recognized as Paul Harris Fellows when they donate $1,000 to the Rotary Foundation. For each significant donation made after becoming a PHF, Rotarians are recognized as PHF +1, PHF +2, and so on. Of the 62 members in the Rotary Club of Tryon, 37 have been recognized as Paul Harris Fellows.

Recognition as a Paul Harris Fellow of the Rotary International Foundation is not restricted to Rotarians. During the ceremony, President-Elect Martin Gilchrist recognized the contributions his wife, Janet, has made to Rotary by honoring her with a Paul Harris Fellow certificate and pin.
The Rotary Club of Tryon congratulates Janet and Martin Gilchrist for their recognition as Paul Harris Fellows.
