COLUMBUS—On Saturday, June 21, a group of generous, caring people came together to support the first of many Food Drives to benefit local pantries. Over 51 cars dropped off non-perishable food goods and toiletries at Polk County Democratic Party Headquarters in Columbus.

Approximately 1,400 pounds of donations were collected for Polk County residents in need. An amazing group of volunteers collected, sorted, and delivered goods to Share Thy Bread and Thermal Outreach pantries, with each receiving almost 700 pounds of items.

Monthly Food Drives sponsored by the Polk County Democratic Party will be held on the third Saturday of every month to offer continued support for our local food pantries. The next collection is scheduled for Saturday, July 19, from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. at Polk County Democratic Party Headquarters, located at 64 Ward St. in Columbus.
