MILL SPRING—The Unity in the Community organization will host a free herbal workshop on passionflower on Saturday, June 28, at 10 a.m. The workshop will be held at the UITC Herb Garden, located at 5620 Pea Ridge Road, Rutherfordton, beside Zion Grove A.M.E. Church.
At first glance, passionflower stands out for its vibrant beauty. However, passionflower has historically been used as an herbal supplement to treat anxiety, insomnia, seizures, and menopause. The leaves, flowers, and stems can be used as infusions, teas, and liquid extracts. Passionflower is also sometimes used to treat burns, ADHD, heart rhythm problems, and hemorrhoids.
This workshop will be a make-and-take event, with attendees producing a natural sleep aid using passionflower. All material will be provided, and the workshop will be free to the community. The Dogwood Health Trust makes this event possible.
Seating is limited. Call (828) 429-8503 or (864) 978-1177 to reserve a seat.
