TRYON—On Tuesday, May 6, from 6 to 7:30 p.m., Tryon Painters & Sculptors welcomed the community for a special guided shopping evening in honor of Mother’s Day. TPS members served as guides for visitors, showcasing various art mediums as attendees browsed a wide selection of unique gifts created by local artists.

“We figured out that Tuesdays in Tryon are pretty quiet,” said TPS board member Jeff Dale. “So we’ve come up with a monthly event. This month’s event is a guided tour of some of our artwork here at Tryon Painters & Sculptors, just in time for Mother’s Day. We have a few of the artists on hand, including me. People can walk around and we’ll share stories behind specific works of art, including my piece, ‘American Bold Eagle,’ which I photographed in Northern Michigan.”

TPS President Cornelia Scibetta shared her excitement for the initiative.

“We started this about four months ago with an idea Jeff had for ‘Tuesdays at TPS,’” she said.  “During these events, we provide opportunities for people to socialize, enjoy a glass of wine, and listen to speakers or live music. With Mother’s Day approaching, it made sense to do guided shopping to help visitors find something special.”

Jewelry Maker Jane Nodine added, “We are here to talk with visitors as they come in, helping to promote our gallery’s unique pieces for Mother’s Day. It’s a chance to find original gifts and bring more traffic to the gallery, and it’s free to come in.”
