POLK COUNTY—Polk County Farms recently announced the opening of the 2025 summer season farmers markets, set to kick off on May 2 in Saluda and May 3 in Columbus.
The Saluda Tailgate Market will be located at 214 E. Main St. and operates every Friday from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. The Columbus Farmers Market is held at 40 Courthouse St. on Saturdays from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. The outdoor markets will operate weekly through October, showcasing the very best produce and goods from local farms and ranches.
With over forty vendors, attendees can expect a delightful selection of fresh food items ranging from honey and eggs to flowers, as well as a variety of crafts, including woodworking, soap-making and foraged herbal products. The markets are perfect for anyone seeking a unique gift or simply looking to support local artisans.
The markets will host activities throughout the summer. Local schools, 4-H clubs and non-profit organizations will participate, while local musicians will provide entertainment. Highlights include tasting events, recipe ideas, raffles and fun-filled children’s activities such as a farmers market scavenger hunt. Visitors can enjoy free popcorn in Columbus and refreshing herbal-infused ice water in Saluda.
“There’s something special about being able to connect with the farmers and food artisans,” said Columbus Market Manager Dawn Jordan. “Knowing where your food comes from and who grew it enhances the whole experience.”
Anyone interested in volunteering at the markets is welcome to stop by the Info table for more information.
“We’re always looking for fun-loving, community-minded people to join us,” said Jordan.
