TENNIS: Polk to visit South Davidson in opening round of 1A boys tennis playoffs

Polk County will open the state 1A boys tennis playoffs on Wednesday at South Davidson per brackets released Friday by the North Carolina High School Athletic Association.
The Wolverines (5-5) received the ninth seed in the 16-team 1A West bracket and will travel to eighth-seeded South Davidson (8-4). The Wildcats finished third in the Central Carolina 1A/2A Conference.
The winner of Wednesday’s match will advance to either face top-seeded Elkin or 16th-seeded Christ The King.
Mountain Foothills 7 Conference rival R-S Central earned the top seed in the 2A West bracket, with Hendersonville seeded 12th and Brevard receiving the 20th seed.
