The Polk County Volleyball Club’s 15U team capped a remarkable spring campaign by capturing their second consecutive tournament title, establishing themselves as a formidable presence in regional competition.

The seven-player squad, featuring future Polk County High School varsity players Abby Lewis, Claire Lawrence, Elena Greve, Jill Brown, Reeve Carroll, Olivia Kirk and Madalyn Varnadore, completed a perfect 6-0 run at the Hub City Classic in Spartanburg on April 12-13. Competing in the elevated 16/17 division, the team swept all opponents without dropping a single set, culminating in a decisive 25-18, 25-19 victory over Tsunami C161N MaTia of Jonesboro, Ga. in the championship match.

This dominant performance followed their triumph at the 4th Annual AAU Great Smoky Mountain Invitational on March 15-16 at Harrah’s Cherokee Casino Resort in Cherokee. The Polk County squad, coached by Ansley Lynch, posted a perfect 7-0 record in the 15 Premier division, surrendering just two sets throughout the tournament. Their championship victory came in dramatic fashion, rallying to defeat Galaxy 15 Patrick of the Gaston Galaxy Volleyball Club 23-25, 27-25, 17-15 in a tension-filled final.

The two tournament titles came on the heels of a runner-up showing at the Spring Madness tournament in Spartanburg on March 1-2, where they finished 5-1 and placed second among 23 teams in the 15 Power division. Galaxy 15 Patrick claimed the championship match 25-11, 25-17.

“This is an awesome group who killed this season even though they were always the smallest, team size and height wise, team at these tournaments,” Lynch said.
