Polk County junior Gunnar Alm has been named to the Rawlings-Perfect Game Preseason Underclass All-America First Team, earning recognition as one of the nation’s top high school baseball prospects in the Class of 2026.
The honor places Alm among the top 100 junior baseball players in the United States, Canada and Puerto Rico. Rawlings and Perfect Game selected 300 total players across three teams, with additional high honorable mention and regional lists highlighting emerging talent.
Alm’s selection follows an impressive summer 2025 campaign with the South Charlotte Panthers, where he compiled a .491 batting average with five home runs and 23 RBI across 73 plate appearances. His performance also included 11 stolen bases in national tournament play.
The North Carolina State commit has elevated his game further this spring for Polk County. Through 12 games, Alm currently has a .563 batting average with a .714 on-base percentage and 1.156 slugging percentage. His offensive production includes three doubles, two triples, four home runs, 11 RBI, 16 runs scored and 16 stolen bases.
The junior is scheduled to return to the South Charlotte Panthers for summer competition following the conclusion of Polk County’s season.
Perfect Game CEO Rob Ponger called the preseason recognition “a tremendous achievement” for recipients as they prepare for potential collegiate or professional baseball careers.
