Drainage operation will require five days
SALUDA—One lane of Interstate 26 West in Polk County near Saluda will be closed starting Monday, February 3.
“Crews from Watson Contracting will need five days to add a drainage structure, install guardrail and finish paving in a stretch north of Indian Mountain Road,” the N.C. Department of Transportation said in a news release. ?They recently completed operations of drainage pipes in the median, installing guardrail at other locations and rebuilding the median shoulder of westbound lanes.”
The release also says that these operations are part of a $16.5 million project to improve drainage and safety along a stretch of I-26. Following this operation, crews will address a small slide area and then finalize the project with punch list items.
