HENDERSONVILLE – Sonona Louise Parker Ross, 79, of Hendersonville, passed away,
Monday afternoon, January 20, 2025, at Wake Forest Baptist Hospital following a brief illness.
Born in the Mountain Page Community of Saluda, she was the daughter of the late Alvin Lee Parker and Deva Russell Parker. Sonona attended Saluda High School and started her family. After her children got older, she began working in several industries including, Grover
Industries, Hampton Inn, Fletcher Living Center, C.Y.P. and retiring from St. Luke’s Hospital. Sonona enjoyed sewing, crafts and reading. She attended Bible 2001 Baptist Church in Dana.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Richard Floyd Bell in 1994 and Larry Joseph Ross in 2018; one brother, George Parker.
Surviving are four sons, Norman Bell (Tara) of E. Flat Rock, Stephen Bell ( Jamie) of Saluda, David Bell of Saluda and Matthew Bell of Saluda; two daughters, Lorraine Metcalf of Saluda and Carole Burrell (Johnny) of Columbus; six grandchildren, Melissa, Stephanie, Ezra, Jessica, Carolynn and Marc; two great-grandchildren, Christian and Caleb; one brother, Lewis Parker of Vale, North Carolina; one sister, Lorene Barbee of Travelers Rest, South Carolina.
A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, January 26, 2025, in Mountain Page Baptist Church Cemetery in Saluda with Reverend Bill Brackett officiating.
