Vincent Joseph Krydynski, Jr, 87, of Spartanburg, SC died peacefully on Friday, January 10, 2025, at Spartanburg Regional Hospice Home.  

 

Born in Chicago, IL, on September 20, 1937, Mr. Krydynski was the son of the late Vincent Joseph Krydynski, Sr. and Rita Carroll Krydynski. At age seventeen, after graduating from Gage Park High School, he enlisted in the US Marine Corps and served in a detachment unit on a US Navy aircraft carrier traveling the world until his tour of duty was over in 1958 after which he began a 35-year career at R. R. Donnelly in Chicago, IL.  Mr. Krydynski started as a laborer and after becoming management, he accepted a promotion to transfer to Spartanburg, SC in 1981.  He retired from R. R. Donnelly as Manager of the Bindery and Shipping Department in 1993 and moved to Tryon, NC. where he owned and operated G&K Furniture and Appliance in Columbus, NC until 2015 when he moved back to Spartanburg, SC 

 

Always active in the Lansing, IL community, Mr. Krydynski served as a volunteer firefighter, coached youth football, was a member of St. Ann’s Church Parish Council and 4th Degree member of the Knights of Columbus.  In Tryon, NC, during his 10-year tenure with the Polk County Chamber Board, he served as President and Vice President as well as a member of the Tryon BBQ Festival Board.  Mr. Krydynski was a member of St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church in Spartanburg, SC, and often served as a eucharistic minister.

 

Mr. Krydynski is survived by his children, Vincent Joseph Krydynski, III (Loretta) of Orland Park, IL, Kathleen Krydynski Byrd of Tryon, NC, and John Frederick Krydynski (Frances) of Spartanburg, SC; son-in Law, David Henry Flynn of Spartanburg; six grandchildren, Hannah Krydynski, Logan Byrd, David Tyler (Jordan) and Mary Kaitlyn Flynn, Jack and Brice Krydynski; and one great grandson, Liam Grady Flynn. He was predeceased by his beloved wife of 53 years, Mary Ellen Goetzinger, and daughter, Suzanne Krydynski Flynn, as well as Caleb Collins, partner of his daughter Kathy.  

 

A funeral mass will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 16, 2025, at St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church, Spartanburg, SC with Father David R. Whitman officiating.  A private family committal will take place in the Columbarium.

 

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Spartanburg Regional Hospice Home, 686 Jeff Davis Dr., Spartanburg, SC  29303.
