TRYON—The Tryon Concert Association will present the musical ensemble Tripych Musica at its first TGIF concert of the season. The concert will take place on January 17 at 6 p.m. at the Tryon Fine Arts Center.

This acclaimed trio of local musicians is known for its wide-ranging repertoire, which includes classical, Romantic, and contemporary compositions. The ensemble creates musical portraits that recall the elegance of Renaissance and Baroque painting. They have performed at various venues, and TCA is pleased they will perform here in Tryon.

The program for this performance includes the Johannes Brahms trio in E flat major, Op. 40, and Claude Debussy’s “Clair de lune” No. 3 from the Suite Bergamasque. More recent works to be performed are Eric Ewazen’s two-movement “Trio” and three of Paul Lansky’s Études and Parodies. The final piece of the evening is Billy Joel’s Lullabye “Goodnight, My Angel.”

The trio consists of violinist Joanna Mulfinger, a former student of the Peabody Conservatory, The Juilliard School, and the Hanns Eichler Hochschule in Berlin. Pianist Jessica Elliott received her musical education at Florida State University, where she was pianist for the University Symphonic Orchestra and now plays with the Greenville Symphony Orchestra. Anna Zuelke-King is Principal Horn with the Greenville Symphony Orchestra, Principal Horn of the Spartanburg Philharmonic, and Third Horn with the Asheville Symphony Orchestra.

TGIF concerts are short, informal, and noted for the close interaction between performers and audience. They are an excellent way to start the weekend. Come early to enjoy the cash bar.
