TRYON—In a delicious effort to support community projects, the Rotary Club of Tryon has kicked off its annual Gourmet Nut Sale, featuring gourmet snacks from Plantation Peanuts of Wakefield, Virginia. These treats are available every Wednesday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Tryon IGA, and the sale will continue through the end of the month.
All proceeds from the sale will go to the Rotary Club of Tryon Foundation, which has a long-standing commitment to funding a variety of meaningful projects both locally and globally. Over the years, the foundation has contributed thousands of dollars to organizations such as Rise Against Hunger, Reading is Fundamental, TubaChristmas, Polio Plus, and Project Dignity WNC. Additionally, it has allocated tens of thousands of dollars for scholarships aimed at supporting young people in their educational pursuits.
Among the items for sale are salted and unsalted peanuts, chocolate-covered peanuts, and peanut brittle—perfect for holiday gifting.
“We now have members who benefitted from the scholarships now serving as members of the Rotary,” said President Charles McKeller. “One of the scholarships we’re proudest of is the Peace scholarship, which has allowed recipients to study overseas.”
Rotary members are volunteering their time to run the Tryon IGA table in two-hour shifts throughout December. In addition to the IGA, gourmet nuts will also be available at the Community Chorus Christmas Concert on December 10 at Polk County High School.
