Eugenia “Genie” Smith Dumoulin, 79, of Landrum died Wednesday night November 13, 2024. Born in Beacon, NY on March 19, 1945, she was the daughter of Eugene W. Smith and Dorothy M. Brilliant.
As a child, growing up in Beacon, Genie loved family gatherings with her large extended family and many cousins. She often reminisced about the fun they had at the lake, their backyard clambakes, and wonderful holiday parties. She graduated from Beacon High School and served as a volunteer for the Beacon Ambulance Corp along with some of her friends. She married the love of her life, Ron, in 1965 and they later moved to LaGrangeville, NY to raise their daughters. Genie and Ron also became foster parents, caring for many foster children over several years.
One of the places Genie loved most was the beach. She and Ron enjoyed living on the ocean in Florida for several years. Eventually, they moved to the Landrum, South Carolina area to be closer to their children and grandchildren. Genie enjoyed family gatherings and holidays watching her grandchildren grow up. She also loved to spend time in the sunshine, swimming, and relaxing by the pool.
Genie worked for IBM for 23 years as a DB2 Database Analyst/Designer & Administrator and Software Trainer transferring from New York to Boca Raton, FL. She was also a realtor in New York and then returned to real estate again in 2010 in the NC/SC area retiring from Tryon Foothills Realty in NC, in 2024.
