Polk County seniors Sophia Overholt and Morgan Yoder have been named to the North Carolina Volleyball Coaches Association 1A All-State Team.

The Wolverines were two of 12 players chosen for the 1A squad after leading Polk County to its second consecutive state championship.

Perquimans, which Polk County defeated in the state final, placed two players on the squad in Morgan Byrum and Lilly Winslow. Cherokee had three players in Alexis Davis, Dvdaya Swimmer and Joscelyn Stamper while Highland Tech had two in Madison Thompson and Alise Mayers.

Also named to the team were Cape Hatteras’ Elizabeth Fairbanks, Swain’s Gracie Sutton and Pamlico County’s Julia Bain.

The NCVBCA Player of the Year and Coach of the Year will be announced on November 21.
