Early voting begins Thursday

New polling locations announced for casting ballot on Election Day
POLK COUNTY—As the November general election approaches, early voting is set to begin on Thursday, October 17, and run through Saturday, November 2. The early voting hours will be from 8 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. on Mondays through Fridays and from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturdays. The new permanent location for early voting is 231 Ward Street in Columbus.
Curbside voting will be available for those who cannot walk inside the building. It’s important to note that same-day registration and voting are permitted during early voting, and a photo ID is required.
On Election Day, Tuesday, November 5, the polling locations for various precincts will be open from 6:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m.
Here are the designated precincts for Election Day:
- Coopers Gap: Sunny View Elementary School Gym at 86 Sunny View School Rd., Mill Spring
- Columbus 1: Polk County High School, 1681 NC-108, Columbus
- Columbus 2: Isothermal Community College, 1255 W. Mills St., Columbus
- NEW Green Creek: Green Creek Community Center, 25 Shields Rd., Columbus
- NEW Saluda: Saluda Elementary School Cafeteria (enter via Seminary St.)
- NEW Tryon: Presbyterian Church, 430 Harmon Field Rd., Tryon
- White Oak: Mill Spring Fire and Rescue, 145 Old Rutherfordton Rd., Mill Spring
