Campobello–Robert Lee Childers Jr peacefully passed at his home in Campobello, South Carolina, on Wednesday, August 14, 2024, surrounded by family and friends. He was born on December 26, 1955, in Columbia, South Carolina, to the late Robert Lee Childers Sr and Margaret Padgett Childers with a larger-than-life personality.

He had a devout devotion to the Lord, and his favorite place was Israel. He always said, “This feels like home.” Robert had the charisma and character that made him influential to everyone he knew. Robert’s drive and giftedness propelled him to own an HVAC company since 1998. He poured his heart and soul into this company. His deep love for people made him an incredible boss, co-worker, and friend to many. Robert never met a stranger and was always willing to help anyone. His favorite pastimes were Family Game Night, Clemson Football, and The Atlanta Braves.

He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

Robert is survived by his loving wife of 28 years, Dana Childers. His four children Lindsay (Edgar) Sanders, Taylor (Allie) Childers, Dakota (Kat) Childers, and Marlee Childers. He was the best Granddude to his five (almost 6) grandchildren, Harland Sanders and Banner, Harper Kate, Emma, and Redding Childers. His brother Randy (Sally) Childers, nephews Marshall (Kayla) Childers, Nicolas (Darielle) Childers, and a niece Meagen (Mandy) Childers. Mother-in-law Jeannette Taylor and two brothers-in-law Troy (Meg) Marshall and Norman (Sylvia) Marshall.

Special thanks to his caregivers. Kenneth “Twin” and Stephanie Thompson, Brandi “Bran-di” Thompson, and his sweet hospice nurse Robin “Baby.”

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, August 20, 2024, at Petty Funeral Chapel. The family will receive friends following the service.
