Tugaloo Road bridge to close for structural repairs

LANDRUM—The South Carolina Department of Transportation has announced plans to close the bridge on Tugaloo Road over the Middle Tyger River in Greenville County for structural repairs. The closure will extend from Dill Rd. to the bridge over the Middle Tyger River and is expected to last one year.

Tugaloo Rd. serves as a popular cut-through road for commuters in the area traveling to N. Greenville College and Greenville. 

The repair work was scheduled to begin on July 31, with an anticipated re-opening date set for July 31, 2025. The SCDOT has assured the county that a comprehensive plan for structural repairs is currently being developed. 

For drivers’ convenience, the SCDOT has provided the following detour information:

Eastbound Traffic: Drivers are advised to take Highway 414, SC-414, towards Dill Road, S-23-115. Upon reaching the intersection of Highway 414, SC-414, and Dill Road, S-23-115, turn left onto Dill Road, S-23-115, and continue to Tugaloo Road, S-23-978.

Westbound Traffic: Motorists should take Tugaloo Road S-23-115 east to the intersection of Dill Road, S-23-115, make a right turn onto Dill Road, S-23-115, and at the intersection of Dill Road, S-23-115, and Highway 414, SC-414, turn right onto Highway 414, SC-414, to return to Tugaloo Road, S-23-115.

The SCDOT urges all commuters to plan their routes accordingly during this period and to follow the detour instructions for a smooth and safe journey.
