Five killed in fiery crash on Saturday night near the Inman exit
SPARTANBURG CO.—Five people have died after a fiery crash that occurred Saturday night on I-26 near the Hwy. 292 exit in Inman, according to the South Carolina Highway Patrol.
The crash occurred around 9:30 p.m. near mile marker 12 when a car hauler traveling west collided with the rear end of a 2022 Toyota sedan, officials say. The car hauler then crossed the cable barrier into the eastbound lane and was hit by a 2004 Honda sedan.
The driver of the commercial car hauler was taken to a nearby hospital for injuries and the driver of the Toyota, which had no passengers, was not injured. The driver of the Honda and all four of its passengers were killed.
The Spartanburg County Coroner’s Office has not yet released the names of the people who died
All four lanes were closed Saturday night due to the crash, which resulted in a large fire, and were reopened early Sunday morning.
