TRYON—Children’s Theatre of Charlotte and Sigmon Theatrical will perform shows at the Tryon Fine Arts Center during this year’s Super Saturday festival.
Children’s Theatre of Charlotte will present Schoolhouse Rock Live at 9:15 and 10:30 a.m. Schoolhouse Rock aired on ABC’s Saturday morning children’s block from 1973-1984 and was later revived from 1993-1996. It featured animated musical educational short films including grammar, science, economics, history, math and civics lessons–all set to music. Get ready to rock as this pop culture phenomenon hits the stage!
At 1:15 and 2:30 p.m., Sigmon Theatrical will present Dr. Seuss’ The Cat in the Hat! This classic bursts to life in front of your eyes with colorful costumes, puppets, exciting music and circus feats that will have you on the edge of your seats.
Children’s Theater Festival’s presentation of Super Saturday is supported by grants from the Mary F. Kessler Fund at the Polk County Community Foundation. Organizers are also grateful to the Polk County Community Foundation for administering the George and Ester Moore Endowment Fund, Arthur M. and Frances H. Wilhelm Fund, the Dixie and Harry Evans Charitable Endowment Fund and the Super Saturday Fund. The Tryon Fine Arts Center stage is sponsored by Ernest Hemingway platinum sponsors, the Ann L. Turner & Geoffrey M. Tennant Foundation and the Joe R. & Joella F. Utley Foundation.
Super Saturday will take place on Saturday, March 16. For more information, visit tryonsupersaturday.com, or follow Super Saturday on Facebook. If you have questions or would like to volunteer, email supersaturdayinfo@gmail.com.
