R-S Central rallies to topple Polk County

R-S Central staged a fourth-quarter rally Friday, surging past Polk County to hand the Wolverines a 61-50 setback in boys basketball action in Rutherfordton.
The Hilltoppers improved to 8-13 overall, 4-5 in Mountain Foothills 7 Conference action. The Wolverines dropped to 3-17. 1-8.
Polk County built a 28-22 halftime lead and still clung to a one-point advantage entering the fourth period. But Riley Coldren scored eight points in the final quarter, Chandler Crocker added seven and R-S Central limited the Wolverines to just eight points in the final quarter to take the victory.
Gunnar Alm had 19 points to pace Polk County, with Khalil Austin adding 12. Aaron Jackson had seven points and Lawson Carter finished with six.
Avery Harden had four points and Nolan Simpson and Khristian Littlejohn each added a point for Polk, who will next be in action on Friday at Chase.
