Geneva Newman Erwin

She was born in Polk County to the late Charlie Newman and Harriet Barnwell Newman. She was born Oct. 2, 1933. She retired from Autumn Care Nursing Home in March of 2009.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Everett Erwin, brothers Clarence and Hoyt Newman and a great-grandson, Travis Brown.
She is survived by two sons, Wayne Erwin and his fianc´e, Shirley Rogers of Waynesville, and Larry Erwin of Clyde; three daughters, Margaret Ann Brown and her husband Charles of Waynesville, Louise Caldwell of Waynesville and Charlene Erwin of Waynesville; three sisters, Lorie and husband Lawrence Newman of Tryon, Marie and husband Jim Beck of Balsam, N.C., Jessie Case and friend Roy Webb of Tryon, a brother, Harold Newman of Rosman, N.C.; six grandchildren, Kristy and Jeremy Wyatt, Miranda Brown, Joshua and Sarah Caldwell and Austin Erwin; and a great-granddaughter, Hannah Mae Brown.
Services were held Monday, Oct. 19 at Grandview Baptist Church, with the reverends Gary Putnam, Phillip Case and Tony Sisk officiating. The family received friends from 7-9 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 28 at Garrett Funerals and Cremation in Waynesville. Burial was in Crawford/Ray Memorial Gardens. Jeremy Wyatt, Joshua Caldwell, Austin Erwin, Jim Wood, Roy Webb, Jesse Brown and Justin Phillips will serve as pallbearers.
