TRYON—On Monday, the folks behind the scenes at Tryon History Museum were celebrated and recognized for their efforts. The Museum held an Appreciation Luncheon for the Museum docents and volunteers at Brooks Tavern in Tryon.

The mission of the Tryon History Museum is “to tell Tryon’s story,” and features exhibits on notable people, cultural history and historic places in the area. The museum also regularly hosts “Tales of Tryon” events featuring speakers focusing on specific aspects of local history.

“The docents and volunteers that work at the museum are vital to what we do,” said Tryon History Museum President Dick Callaway. “We couldn’t do this without them, so this luncheon was our way of saying thank you.”

Tryon History Museum is located at 26 Maple Street in Tryon, and is open to the public from 1:30 to 4 p.m. on Wednesday and Thursday, and from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Friday and Saturday. For more information and an archive of past “Tales of Tryon” presentations, visit tryonhistorymuseum.org.
