Getting your Trinity Audio player ready...

Asheville— William Andrew Lee, age 29, of Asheville, North Carolina went to his heavenly home on Thursday, January 11th, 2024 at Spartanburg Regional Hospital, SC after a tragic hiking accident.

He was born in Knoxville, TN, on May 25th, 1994 and was the son of Rick and Amy Mueller Lee of Tryon, NC and brother of Caroline Lee of Birmingham, AL. Andrew was born three miles from Neyland Stadium and was an avid Tennessee Volunteer football fan. The Lee family moved to Tryon in 2000 and he attended Tryon Elementary, Polk Middle, and Polk County High School, where he graduated in 2013. He was on the varsity soccer, tennis, and wrestling teams, was a member of the school chorus and Fellowship of Christian Athletes. He was very musically talented, and loved playing piano, guitar, and bass.

Upon graduating high school, he attended University of North Carolina at Asheville, graduating with a degree in Accounting in 2018. While at UNCA, he was a member of Sigma Nu Fraternity, InterVarsity Christian Fellowship, and Greek InterVarsity. Andrew enjoyed four semesters of Cherokee language study, was an ardent book lover, museum enthusiast, and lifelong learner.

After being in accounting for several years, he began working alongside his best friend, his dad, for Riverside Medical. He enjoyed serving the needs of adult and pediatric patients in their homes by setting up medical devices. He loved his patients and truly found his calling in helping others.

Andrew was an active member of Biltmore Church in Arden, NC, and was a small group leader in the Young Adults Ministry. The community, relationships, and spiritual growth were the joys of his heart. Most importantly, his Christian faith was truly the epicenter of his life. He displayed this through his intentionality, service to others, and prayerfulness.

He is also survived by his paternal grandmother, Shirley Lee, of Morristown, TN, as well as many aunts, uncles, and cousins that he adored. He is preceded in death by maternal grandparents, Bob and Lee Mueller, paternal grandfather, Bill Lee, and bonus grandmother, Sharon Parsons.

The family would like to express their sincere appreciation to Polk County EMS and all the First Responders.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held Monday, January 22nd, 2024, at 2:00pm at Biltmore Church, 35 Clayton Rd, Arden, NC, 28704 with Andrew’s uncles, Reverend Bill Meier and Reverend Paul Gustitus, officiating.
