Dr. Charles Alfred Huneycutt

Dr. Charles Alfred Huneycutt, 94, of Greenville, South Carolina, passed away peacefully on December 31, 2023, while surrounded by his loving family. Born in Marshville, North Carolina on November 24, 1929, he was a son of the late Alfred Isaiah and Bessie (Thompson) Huneycutt.

Charles pursued his higher education at the prestigious University of North Carolina – Chapel Hill, where he graduated with a doctorate in dentistry. He was a proud Tar Heel and remained an avid fan of the university throughout his life. In 1955, he married the love of his life, Delores Huneycutt, in a heartfelt ceremony in North Carolina. Together, they embarked on a beautiful journey, raising two children, Christopher C. Huneycutt and Kay Haney, and instilling in them the values of love, kindness, and perseverance.

From 1955-1958, Charles honorably served his country as a member of the United States Air Force.

In 1963, Charles and his family made Greenville, South Carolina, their home. It was there that he established his dental practice, serving the Upstate community with unwavering commitment for over four decades. His patients held a special place in his heart, and they appreciated his gentle touch, warm demeanor, and sincere care. Driven by his passion for dentistry, Charles earned a reputation for excellence, becoming an influential figure in the dental field. In 1973, he was elected President of the South Carolina Dental Association, a role he fulfilled with dedication and distinction.

Outside of his professional accomplishments, Charles possessed a deep love for the sport of golf. As a skilled player, he relished the challenge and camaraderie the game offered. Many memorable moments were shared on the green, where Charles found solace and joy in the company of good friends and family.

In the midst of his devotion to his career and hobbies, Charles cherished his role as a husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He leaves behind his beloved wife, Delores Huneycutt; his son, Christopher C. Huneycutt; his daughter, Kay Haney and her husband, Greg Haney; as well as his adoring grandchildren, Jennifer Rowe, Kaitlan Haney, and Gabrielle McGee; and great-grandchild, Goldie Rowe. He will also be remembered by his nephews, nieces, and a host of extended family and friends.

In addition to his parents, Charles was predeceased by two brothers, Joel Huneycutt and T.C. Huneycutt.

A memorial service honoring the life of Charles Alfred Huneycutt will be held on Saturday, January 20, 2024, at 2:00 p.m., in the chapel of Thomas McAfee Funeral Homes, Downtown, with visitation immediately following the service.
