Funding donated by Williams to support essential work in the Landrum area

 

LANDRUM—The Landrum Area Fire and Rescue District was recently awarded a $1,000 grant from the Williams infrastructure company for support of critical work in the area.

Landrum Fire Chief Warren Ashmore announced the grant award during a recent commission meeting. 

“We’re grateful to receive another grant from Williams,” Ashmore said. “They have been a corporate partner that continues recognizing our ‘neighbors helping neighbors’ culture.”

“We are extremely appreciative to know that Williams sees how intentional our personnel are in remaining dedicated to the people and properties in our district,” added Pam Hilsman, Chairperson of the Landrum Area Fire and Rescue District Commission.

Williams is a natural gas infrastructure company that owns and operates interstate natural gas pipelines and handles 30% of the natural gas used in the United States.

The Landrum Area Fire and Rescue District was established in June 2015. The area encompassed the former Landrum Fire Department’s coverage, including the incorporated City of Landrum, a contracted region in Spartanburg County, and approximately 22% of the Foothills Fire Service Area in Greenville County. The district’s purpose was to transition from a part-time department that relied on volunteers to a full staff of paid firefighters and emergency response personnel, with volunteer support.
