Community Chorus will present a unique and fun-for-the whole-family holiday concert on Sunday, December 10, at Polk County High School. The event begins at 3 p.m., and marks the group’s 50th year of presenting choral concerts, with two performances annually.

The concert will be conducted by Dell Morgan, Lesley Bush and Richard Kennedy, all former conductors, and will be accompanied by Pam Mc Neil. It will feature favorite traditional carols such as Hark the Herald Angels Sing, We Need a Little Christmas and Jesus Child as well as an audience sing-along.

In addition to returning singers, the chorus will feature students from Polk County High School, who will also perform as an ensemble, and Polk County Middle School. This will make the chorus’s youngest member just 12 years old and the oldest member 92!

Guest artists will include Andy Millard, Tena Greene Porter, Beth Child, Karen Killough, Carole Bartol and members of the “Ol ’74 Jazz Band,” as well as surprise artists. There will also be a “reunion reception” after the concert for singers and attendees.

The Community Chorus is a non-profit organization made up of volunteers who enjoy choral singing. Proceeds support the Rotary Club of Tryon Scholarship Fund. Tickets are available at the door on the afternoon of the performance or from a Rotary Club member.
