In Polk County District Court on November 8, 2023, with Judge James Marshall presiding, 212 cases were heard. Some cases were continued, dismissed or sent to superior court.        

 

The following persons were convicted of a crime:

 

Brian Copeland was convicted of felony possession of a scheduled VI controlled substance. Copeland was sentenced to 30 days in jail, suspended for 12 months of unsupervised probation. Copeland was also fined $100 plus court costs.

 

Nathan Wally Cross was convicted of possession of marijuana up to ½ oz. Cross was sentenced to 30 days in jail, suspended for 12 months of unsupervised probation. Cross was also fined $30 plus court costs.

 

Jessica Mae Edwards was convicted of possession of drug paraphernalia. Edwards was sentenced to 45 days in jail, suspended for 12 months of supervised probation. Edwards was also fined $10 plus court costs.

 

Melesio Esteban was convicted of possession of an open container in a passenger area. Esteban was fined $30 plus court costs.

 

Samuel David Haynes was convicted of resisting a public officer. Haynes was sentenced to 20 days in jail, suspended for 12 months of unsupervised probation. Haynes was also fined $50 plus court costs.

 

Ziquan Hemphill was convicted of careless and reckless driving. Hemphill was sentenced to 45 days in jail, suspended for 24 months of unsupervised probation. Hemphill must also perform 50 hours of community service.

 

Max Laughter was convicted of possession of drug paraphernalia. Laughter was sentenced to 10 days in jail, with 10 days credit time served.

 

Carmon Lowery was convicted of driving while impaired. Lower was sentenced to 30 days in jail, suspended for 12 months of unsupervised probation. Lowery was also fined $100 plus court costs.

 

Walter Thomas Marks was convicted of resisting a public officer. Marks was sentenced to five days in jail, with five days credit time served.

 

James Wesley Moore was convicted of reckless driving to endanger. Moore was sentenced to 30 days in jail, suspended for 12 months of unsupervised probation. Moore was also fined $100 plus court costs.

 

John Robert Ortega was convicted of fleeing/eluding arrest. Ortega was sentenced to 5-15 months in jail, suspended for 12 months of supervised probation. Ortega was also fined $100 plus court costs.

 

Katherine Rapisarda was convicted of possession of drug paraphernalia. Rapisarda was sentenced to 12 months of unsupervised probation, and 24 hours of community service. 

 

Thomas Allen Snead was convicted of possession of marijuana and methamphetamine up to ½ oz. Snead was sentenced to 4-14 months in jail. 

 

Robert Luis Swartz was convicted of misdemeanor larceny. Swartz was sentenced to one day in jail, with one day credit time served. 

 

Dwight Michael Ward was convicted of possession of drug paraphernalia. Ward was sentenced to two days in jail, with two days credit time served.
