TRYON—Tryon Arts & Crafts School recently kicked off its fourth Fall Online Auction, with items up for bid from November 1 to November 11. The auction features more than 170 lots which will be on display at TACS during the opening reception for the annual Handcrafted Holiday Market on November 10, from 6 to 8 p.m.     

The TACS online auction includes arts and crafts lessons, dining experiences, outdoor adventures, overnight stays and works of art. Some of the highlights are photographs taken by Anne Noggle, the subject of a recent TACS exhibit, and 90 minutes of musical entertainment from Tommy Lytle, who will also be performing at the reception. 

The online auction will coincide with the start of the annual Handcrafted Holiday Market, inviting artists from in and around Polk County to submit multiple entries for the show. The event will run from November 11 to December 19 and will feature a variety of original, handcrafted works.

While the show has a festive holiday atmosphere, artists are not required to submit holiday-themed work. Participating artists will be welcome to replace sold inventory with new inventory. 

TACS is also inviting artists to support the school’s youth scholarship program by donating handmade ornaments. Proceeds from ornament sales will go toward need-based scholarships for activities like Summer Sizzler camps and after-school art.

Entry sales will be on a “Cash and Carry” basis, with shoppers taking home their purchase at the time of sale. Restocking will be initiated by TACS, which will contact artists each Monday to invite them to restock their inventory if they have sold two or more works. Artists are requested not to bring new items unless TACS has contacted them.

The TACS Member Presale is on Friday, November 10, at 5:30 p.m., followed by the opening reception. The holiday market items and items from the online auction will be on display inside TACS’ main building, where the gallery has recently undergone the first phase of exciting renovations.
