Fundraiser at Harmon Field to feature games, food and community fun

 

TRYON—Outreach will host its inaugural Game of Throws Amateur Disc Golf Tournament on Saturday, September 30.  

The event will take place at Harmon Field Disc Golf Course in Tryon, with registration beginning at 10 a.m. in the open-air gym, and play beginning at 11 a.m. with a shotgun start. 

“This family-friendly event will also have outdoor yard games for all ages such as corn hole, bowling with discs, four square and other outdoor activities,” said organizer Jessica Pace.

Disc golfers and non-golfers will have an opportunity to participate in CTP (Closest to Pin) and distance throwing contests, with prizes awarded to the winners of each competition. 

Snacks and hot dogs will be available for purchase, as well as beer and wine.  

“This is a casual round of disc golf for a great cause,” said Pace.

Outreach is a local charity whose mission is “to provide compassionate assistance to any Polk County resident who does not have the resources to provide for their basic life needs.” Their services include a food pantry, financial assistance and various programs for children, veterans and other Polk County citizens.
