‘Mocktails at the Market,’ and ‘Cooling Off in Columbus’ include fun for the whole family
POLK COUNTY—The Saluda and Columbus Farmers Markets have some exciting events planned for the upcoming weekend.
On Friday, July 28, the Saluda Tailgate Market will be featuring “Mocktails at the Market.” The next day, on Saturday, July 29, the Columbus Farmers Market will be hosting “Cooling Off in Columbus,” which includes shaved ice and splash pads.
The Saluda Tailgate Market will be celebrating summer with mocktails and music. Visitors can cool off with freshly-made specialty drinks with recipes highlighting summer’s bounty, featuring blueberries, blackberries, cucumber, honey, moringa and other surprises. The Asheville Junction Band, a mother-and-daughter duo performing bluegrass and Americana favorites, will entertain folks while they shop and visit market vendors. Saluda Tailgate Market is located off W. Main St. and runs 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. on Fridays from May through October.
On Saturday morning, visitors can head over to Columbus Farmers Market to beat the heat. They can enjoy shaved ice with fruit and herb-infused syrups and even a splash pad for canines and their humans. Infused water will also be available for shoppers.
There will be a variety of cool selections available to purchase such as watermelons, cantaloupes and veggies and meats for the grill.
The Columbus Farmers Market takes place each Saturday Morning from 8 a.m. to noon on Courthouse St. The market features dozens of vendors selling homegrown produce, meat, cheese, eggs and arts and handmade crafts.
The Columbus and Saluda Markets are supported by the Polk County Community Foundation and the Community Foundation of WNC. For more information, visit polkcountyfarms.org or email info@polkcountyfarms.org.
