The Tryon Country Club Men’s Golf Association had their 2023 Opening Day on Monday, April 3. They had 39 players participating in the golf and about 45 for their opening lunch. They played a Carolina Scramble on the back nine with closest to the pin contests on both par 3’s. The winners were:

 

First place – Doug Gelbert, Randy Conway, Mike Burrell, John Diekmann – 31

 

Second place – Bill Basye, Jim Diggs, Jerry Perry, John Lyons – 32

 

Third place – Keith Beaver, Jerry Pospisil, Charles McKeller, Bill McCall – 35

 

Fourth place – Tommy Richardson, Jim Shirley, Hub Arledge, Dave Fenner – 35
