Polk County Middle School placed on temporary lockdown Wednesday 

 

MILL SPRING–According to the Polk County Sheriff’s Office, a police chase ended with a subject in custody on Wednesday afternoon. The vehicle pursuit ended when the fleeing subject crashed in the area of Tim Edwards Landscaping on Post Office Rd., in Mill Spring. 

The vehicle pursuit began in Lake Lure. After crashing, the subject fled on foot, running towards the area of Laughter Pond.

Polk County Middle School was placed on temporary lockdown while deputies searched for the subject. 

A short time later, deputies located and arrested John Robert Ortega, according to Sheriff Tim Wright. Officials state that there was never any danger to the public.
