The Foothills Music Club met Thursday, February 9 at Tryon First Baptist Church.
Members enjoyed a program of traditional folk music and more recent selections written in folk song style.
Vocalists performed songs from Appalachia, Scotland, Ireland and France. Also included were Hungarian, Rumanian, English and American Shaker tunes. Instruments represented were piano, guitar, recorder, bassoon, harmonica and melodica.
The Foothills Music Club meets once a month from September through May. Its purpose is to encourage musicians by providing an opportunity to perform and to encourage young musicians by providing scholarships to support their musical endeavors.
