The STEM series for elementary school students at Polk County Public Libraries continues in 2023! Starting last fall, each series is four weeks long and meets once a week for a unique program. These series run throughout the 2022-2023 school year and are sponsored by a Free Community Events Grant from Polk County Community Foundation.
The next STEM series is at Columbus Library on Wednesdays at 4 p.m., starting February 1 and running through February 22. Program activities will include exploring the amazing adaptations of local predators and prey with Chimney Rock, interacting with the phases of the moon with the Asheville Museum of Science, making string slime using crazy chemistry with Zaniac, and learning about stingrays with Team ECCO Aquarium.
Space is limited. Register with Jen at jdickenson@polklibrary.org or (828) 894-8721 x284. Participants must be in grades K-5, be Polk County or Landrum residents, register in advance, and be able to attend all four programs in a series.
Polk County Public Libraries has two libraries, Columbus Library and Saluda Library, with books, movies, music, audiobooks, board games, health and wellness kits, cake pans, Launchpad tablets, and downloadable ebooks and audiobooks available for checkout, as well as public computers and wireless internet access. PCPL also offers regularly scheduled virtual and in-person programs for all ages. To learn more, visit www.polklibrary.org.
