The Upstairs Artspace brings back the holiday craft show with “Presents of Art” continuing through Christmas Eve.
Similar to the popular “Festival of Crafts” in the 1990s, this show is packed with a selection of crafts for every taste and pocketbook.
About 40 artists from the Carolinas are participating, and more than half are new to the gallery. Original Christmas cards, glass ornaments, gorgeous jewelry, decorative and functional ceramics, luxurious scarves, evening bags, pillows, sweet-smelling soaps, colorful coffee mugs, flower pins, funky sculpture, handsome mirrors, small quilts, stuffed toys
“Our goal was to bring a variety of fresh and exciting crafts to our community,” says Wyndy Morehead, gallery manager.
Also on exhibit is “The Spiritual Image in Contemporary Art,” a collection of new painting and sculpture by seven highly regarded regional artists, including curators Dale McEntire and Tekla.
The show demonstrates a diverse interpretation of secular and sacred spirituality as experienced by each artist.
Gallery hours are Tuesday through Saturday, 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Call 828-859-2828 for information.
